I thought we had the young Polish defender signed. I just read hes staying in Poland to care for his sick mom. Marino said hes looking for another defender. Joe and Joe C would like to hear your opinion of what should be the starting 11.

Here are some possible reasons why our starters played. Gargano is young and has great stamina – he can play twice a week for the whole year. Canna is a bit older, but he’s been playing all game every game for a while now – I don’t check every game sheet, but I can’t remember the last time he was rested. He’s used to it. Santacroce is coming off an injury and needed a tune-up before the real deal on Sunday.

Lavezzi, Hamsik, and Denis all came off the bench to join in the party. Since we’ve drawn Benfica in the next round, there’s a possibility we have only two more games in Europe. You might as well let your star players shine on the big stage while they have the chance.

Can’t wait for Sunday’s game.

Getting any type of result on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico will be a daunting task for the Azzurri. Totti and Taddei look to be out while Napoli should be completely healthy, but yeah, Romanista, if I were a betting man I’d like my chances if I were in your shoes.

Still hoping to kick your *** 10 ways to Sunday. No offense. Good luck this season, you all are primed for the scudetto if you can catch a few breaks.

I’m not trying to sound complacent, but Roma will take maximum points on day 1. I respect Napoli but the amount of talent avaliable should overflow the Napolian defence.

I’m with you, Joe C… I thought this was a perfect, perfect chance to play Amodio, De Zerbi, Bruno (from the Primavera squad)… Canna, Santacroce and Gargano were the starters who played the whole match. I don’t know, I’m glad we’re in the first round of the UEFA Cup (we’re still not to the group stage) but I would’ve loved to have seen us use more little-used bench players.

I sure hope Grava and Montervino enjoyed playing today, because as far as I’m concerned they don’t need to see the pitch again.
