Napoli vs. Bologna, Part 2

By: Neil | December 19th, 2012

It’s easy to forget about the Coppa Italia in the wake of Napoli’s Serie A troubles – losing at home to Bologna and then getting docked 2 points as part of the betting scandal – but let’s not forget the Coppa was Napoli’s ticket into the Europa League’s group stage. And the way things are going again this year, it may be a better route to Europe than the league. Napoli’s Serie A form is hardly inspiring the last 10 rounds, so this match should be taken very seriously. Napoli will probably rest players anyways, while reports indicate Bologna is completely turning over their team.

Inler is suspended for the weekend game against Siena, so look for him to start and play the full match. Other than that, who knows Mazzarri’s team? Cavani probably wants to play to beat Maradona’s scoring record as quickly as possible, so there’s another starter.

Prediction: if Bologna goes with their B team they will really struggle. Napoli 2-0.

Mannini, Contini, & Calaio, looks like Napoli from 6 years ago. I always liked Calaio and Mannini, but Contini was worse than Aronica. I don’t think anyone on Napoli’s starting 11 would have played with any of those guys.

As soon as they change to 4 at the back, they play better. How is this not obvious for mazzarri. This should be how Napoli play, always.

Alan, if that’s true, it’s a damn shame. Two of Napoli’s best players falling out will be terrible.

I don’t think anybody understands why mazzarri doesn’t just start with a 4-3-3. I was waiting 70 minutes for Pandev to come on.

Mani I noticed that too. Went 4-3-3 immediately starting looking (semi)dangerous. At least more so than before.

I was just searching for this info for a while. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your site. I wonder what’s the Google’s problem that does not rank this type of informative web sites closer to the top. Normally the top websites are full of garbage.

I’d take Pioli in a second. He’s had two pretty stellar job interviews this year alone. Too bad it won’t happen . . .
