Napoli-Cesena Live Blog

By: Neil | January 12th, 2012

Rosati – Grava, Fernandez, Britos – Zuniga, Donadel, Dzemaili, Dossena – Hamsik, Vargas – Cavani. This is a possible starting lineup for tonight. Other options include Maggio & Zuniga on the wings, and one of Pandev or Chavez as one of the strikers. Who knows? But it looks like Mazzarri will give the first team a big rotation.

Candreva is set to start on the bench for Cesena. As some readers pointed out in my preview, I really have no idea what type of player he is. If he does get some playing time I will pay close attention and become more familiar with his role and his style.

I will post a live stream as soon as I can find a good one. Let’s hope my computer doesn’t slow down as it has for some of the previous games.

After this one is Bologna on Monday night. Forza Napoli!

Vargas out Pandev in. Hopefully Vargas just needs time to adjust because he didn’t impress at all tonight but i’m sure he has more to offer.

This game is taking so much energy out of Napoli… all kinds of chasing and frantic movements just get get back on level terms.

Now that it is 1-1 I don’t really care what happens… if Napoli does go on to win, great – but if Cesena sneak another goal from this game I will have a good laugh about the whole thing

Didn’t Vargas play well then? Still it’s only early AH Cav and Pandev so it must be 2-1 the beauty of two screens

Vargas had an assist for Cesena as well as a key block on Cavani’s goal-bound shot. Not bad if he was Cesena’s 16 mil signing ;)

Jammy jammy bastards we are. Made hard work out of it is right, we had 3 wing backs outs there and one of them was playing as a striker. Ridiculous formation at the end of the game, Cavani and Pandev coming deep and Zuniga up front on his own. A four foot right back playing as a target man up front hahahahahaha

Padevmonio!!!!! Although two goals off of set pieces is worrisome. We should have been able to get at least one from run of play.

So onto the quarterfinals where we will play either Inter/Genoa

“IF” we win the next match we will play the winner of Siena/Chievo at home for a chance at the finals.

I know I shouldn’t be looking ahead, but I thought it was interesting.

once again pandev man of the match. once he came on the team was alot more threatening. if he continues this form he will be here next season. i know it is still way too early to comment of vargas but why was he in the box most of the match looking to find a cross, he was the shortest guy on the pitch.

Any comments on Britos or Donadel. Didnt see much from them, but like Vargas they may just need time.

didnt see enough of britos to comment. donadel looked like he could be of use to replace a tired inler or dezemaili. had a decent run through a couple of cesena players.

It’s all about a series of nsary murders which mirror murders done by the infamous Kray Twins (Look them up in Wilki if u don’t kow about them worth taking the time) gang in 60’s east End crime lame land the Rock stars of murder mixing with royalty so they were called the first real diamond geezers. Well got to say much more interesting then Napoli Cesena reruns on U tube I looked or that are not up yet. Missed the goals.

Anyone else have a thumbs up for britos’ performance? I thought he looked confident out there for his first game and on a couple of occasions launched some deadly accurate L1+triangles

I didn’t realize how physically imposing Britos looks. I mean he could have auditioned for the Jersey Shore and held his own with those inbred poor excuses for Italians.

Am I reading this correctly that Napoli is looking to get Ronaldinho?

    Really?

Ronaldinho. WHAT A RUMOR! Pandev has proved so many of us wrong. I think we need to give a good player some time to fit in with a club. So lets give Vargas a few matches why dont we?

Alan, I was thinking the same thing after the match yesterday. Think of Pandev and that terrible miss at Cesena our 1st match of the season and then the below par performaces when he had a chance over the next few games (at Chievo, he was 10x worse than Vargas yesterday). Now think that Pandev is a seasoned vet whose played at the highest level in Italy for several years and that it’s taken him some time to get adjusted in Napoli. Vargas is younger and he’s never played in such a tactically structured side in his entire life. Even the 2nd string Cesena D is going to be a much more difficult tactical group than your average Chilean side. Now think about the pressure he must be feeling and the adrenaline. Had he come on and played lights out, it would have been incredible. Please let’s give him time and minutes to get into the flow of Serie A. Mazz needs to pump him with confidence so that he takes players on and plays aggresively. He’ll find his form and rythm.

As for Britos and Donadel, I thought they both played well. I also realy like Fernandez and think he is growing into a very solid defender. We suddenly have alot more depth in D and MF.

Luigi, reading that article it’s amazing if true. It would put Napoli firmly on the world map of soccer – remember that Ronaldinho is still a hugely popular player around the world. I think it’s a win/win. If he comes, it creates buzz and gets the fans excited. If he plays great, no one will complain. If he sucks, then he rides the bench and is gone in the summer.

The end of the article bothered me a little in that it implied that Vargas may be loaned out to get time and experience at a smaller club. This after 45 min debut a week after the kid arrived in Italy? WTF!!
