Lega Calcio did not dissapoint

By: Christopher | July 30th, 2009

Yes, anxiousness for the start of Serie A is starting to build- escaping the craziness of summer happenings to move on to reality. By the looks of it, we will have to get off to quite the blast off in terms of form. Thankfully Marino planned ahead for this early challenge in the schedule by signing ‘the rocket.’ Palermo are no easy team to warm up to and Donadoni will have to have his shit together from the start. No more stuttering form on the pitch, no room for error, and with the best summer mercato since I don’t know how long– no excuses. Every time April rolls around and teams are fighting for certain places on the table, I always think back to games I saw in either the beginning of the season or after international breaks where focus and concentration are crucial, and points were lost by those teams on silly mistakes.

the first 12 games are fucking horrible! your right though no excuses from donadoni the man has to whip this team into a winning mentality from the start. he did play with “the invincibles” you really cant get better experience of how a team should work!

what do you guys think of the shirt so far? not so sure about the macron sponsors or the lete one being so high up (they would all look so better in plain white), but with a blue collar it could be quite a nice shirt

To be honest, I find it kind of boring. I wish it had a little bit more going on other than huge macron logos on either arm. Perhaps solid blue jerseys will look cool as a collective group of players but on its own it doesn’t do it for me.

First sorry Chris, if I offended you. Not sure if you were joking, but if not sorry.

As far as the schedule goes, what I don’t like is having to play Milan/Juve is a 3 day span. After that, they all seem to be winnable games, in my opinion.

I wonder if Napoli is finished or if they are still lookinf for a striker. Looks like Milan is renewing interest in Fabiano. I know I keep beating this like a drum about Borriello, but who knows.

I read an article where Zola had told Balotelli that if he wants to play he needs to go somewhere else. Just for conversation’s sake..how about a loan for him? Or would you think his immaturity would be a distraction to the team. I guess I would like to see one more stiker on the team. I’m not sold on Denis, I actually thought Pia played better, once given the chance. Hoffer remains to be seen what he can bring to Serie A. So who knows..

I think Balotelli is a phenomenal player. Zola is right, if given a chance to play every day, I expect he will get even better.

sorry i dont care how good he is, balotelli is poison. hes got a gift yet he acts like a complete prick. no way i would even think about wanting him his attitude is horrendous.

hes up there with c.ronaldo in terms of being disgusting human beings. i could imagine balotellis reaction on whether he wants to join napoli…
it doesnt matter what team hes on (i dont think he cares who he plays for) he will always put himself first. hes the worst type of player there is, has potential world class talent but doesnt care about anything but himself!

thats my rant on balotelli over in more positive news the lads are beating some austrian team 5-1 (6′ Lavezzi, 31′ Lavezzi, 35′ Hamsik 37′ Knaller, 43′ Hamsik, 5’st Denis) 2 from el pocho??? i know ive been harsh on him but i hope hes finally tuned in

I would take Balotelli on loan for a season IF we had the whole Lavezzi thing well in hand. If it doesn’t work out then send him back to Inter.

I also am still not sold on Denis the menace. Still stoked for the season though!

And like I said, starting with Palermo? OUCH

Haha no I’m sorry Luigi, I forgot to say I was joking after that.
Although a) these are pre season games and b) against Austrian teams, from reading the match reports Denis’ goals have been pretty cheeky — one was a one touch off a volley, which is encouraging. Like you said Vincent it could be a whole different story against Palermo…

A bit off topic but I’m real happy Bojinov is coming back to Italy, didn’t look like he was ever going to see the light of day at City, seeing as they signed roughly a gazillion new strikers. Parma look situated to solidify their stay in Serie A this season.

I was just thinking the same thing about Denis. He has been scoring in every friendly and I have to say he looks much fitter than last season.. he may be a pleasant surprise.

With Bojinov to Parma, what is the deal with Zalayeta? Is he gone yet?

By the way, they used a 3-5-2 again. Should we be expecting Donadoni to continue to use it into the season?

interesting…far too many foreigners in my opinion. find it strange that marino would still bring in southern americans when they caused such a rift last season, hopefully campagnaro will keep them in check

it was such a shame about bojinov i thought he was going to be a top player who knows he could still flourish but he seems far to injury prone.

looks like donadoni will be using the 3-5-2 and as much as i hate 3 at the back it did work really well for the 1st half of last season. however, i dont see the point in relying on a formation that utilises wingbacks and requires a big target man, when we have 2 strikers that arent exactly renowned for scoring headers…
