Congratulations, <strike>Tony</strike> Sam. You've just demonstrated why so many women don't use recognizably female names on the internet-jackasses like you. Does being skeezy ever actually work for you, or do you just get off on the idea that you might be intimidating some girl? Either way, you're pretty pathetic.

I respect Reja for what he's done for us. He took us from C1 to A. He has a place in Napoli history for that, we won't forget it. But I'm not sentimental when evaluating current performance. I think Reja's reached the limit of what he can do. He's not flexible enough and doesn't bring the mindset or methods that we need if we want to take on the top teams and challenge for a European spot or the Scudetto. If we keep Reja, we're not going to be relegated, but we're not going to be the team we want to be either.

Lisa. I have always given Reja the benefit of the doubt throughout the season since I guess I appreciate what he did to get us from the depths of Serie C1 up to Serie A in two years BUT my patience and loyalty is starting to wear thin (as it was with Iezzo earlier this year and with Cannavaro now). One of things he does that infuriates me is his stubborness to break that 3-5-2 formation. Also his substitutions are at times bewildering and illogical !!!
As for the immaturity of the team, yes I suppose some of it does come down to coaching. I guess it just doesn't seem like he's connecting with his players, does it? Maybe he ever did connect with them but the talent was there in the lower divisions to overcome it.

The match turned for me when Garics crapped his pants on the breakaway. He had Gigi all to himself and all he had to do was chip Gigi and we would've scored. Instead Garics abdicated his responsibility and tried passing it to Lavezzi. Predictably the pass was much too heavy and it went over the endline. Lavezzi's actions were telling right afterward as he screamed at Garics.
I told my boy right after this play there was absolutely no chance we were going to win this match and we could wind up losing it late. I hate, hate, hate being right!

Nice job Fortunato. I'm excited about having another writer on board.

I think what you're calling an immature team and undisciplined play comes down to coaching, Fortunato. The talent is there, but we need better tactics and training. I don't expect to see Reja around next season, regardless of where we finish in the table. In the meantime, I think the defense would improve if we gave up on 3-5-2 and started playing 4 in the back.

Neil. Santacroce has been very impressive and the other two defenders just were not in his class.
Napoli showed signs of an immature team and that's inevitaly why they lost the game. Immaturity equates to defensive lapses, like Domizzi's and some of Cannavaro's boo-boos and overall undisciplined play (4 yellows).
I loved what both Garics and Savini did for us last year but I realize that in Serie A, we can have one of the two staring but not both if we expect to compete against the Juves and Inters of the world. Both are good, very solid Serie B players but only marginal Serie A players. I believe Marino realizes this and this may be why the Brazilian Wendel is being targeted.
Fiorentina is a very disciplined and organized team (more so than Juventus) and if Napoli plays the undisciplined style with the defensive lapses, Fiorentina will succeed. Failure, at his point, is not an option. We need a win, period.

Great summary Fortunato.

For me Santacroce was the best player on the field... he could be world class someday.

I'm concerned about our attacking play... with a 3-5-2 our strikers and wingers need to penetrate more. Savini is adequate defensively but doesn't attack much. Garics has limited skills. Lavezzi was very good, but he did the job of a midfielder.

Does anyone know what Domizzi was doing in the 88th minute? I couldn't figure out why Iaquinta was so wide open in such a dangerous spot.
