“English Women Don’t Wash Their Genitalia”

By: Neil | December 17th, 2008

Look, our President was kidding when he made these tongue in cheek comments. Napoli could enter the winter break in third place, and tensions have been high around the club. What better way to deflect attention away from money and personnel issues than by jesting about a woman’s ****? Seriously, the whole thing is a friendly poke at English soceity. The real truth is that English clubs can offer our players more money to play in a league that has produced six Champions League semi-finalists in the last two years. DeLa clearly needs some kind of bargaining chip, so why not take the humorous route? If anyone thinks his jokes are disrespectful, just read some of the comments at the goal.com website. According to Hans in Denmark, “English women were the reason the Vikings stopped raiding England 1,000 years ago.” Now that’s a disrespectful comment. Please stop laughing and grow up.

But on to footballing matters. Tensions are indeed high after more of our players are being linked with other clubs. Real Madrid scouts took notice of Christian “Superbyke” Maggio’s play, and Milan are considering Blasi as a replacement for Gattuso. It’s unlikely either player is going to leave the club, but interest from other teams gives players a real good excuse to ask for an improved contract, or whatever other conditions they desire. The bottom line is that Napoli’s players are starting to acquire a little power, and DeLa needs to use every trick in the book to keep them in line. As he pointed out in the genitalia article, Napoli has done a great job of boosting the players’ images. Two years ago nobody knew who Lavezzi, Hamsik, and Santacroce were. In the cases of Blasi and Maggio, they were already very well establihsed – Blasi has received ten caps for Italy – but Napoli has given all of its players a lift from their previous clubs. I’m hoping that the players show some loyalty, and that everyone sticks with the project until its conclusion, whenever that is.

But if players end up leaving, new players will come in. Apparently Napoli has just signed Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic. Naturally the transfer wouldn’t officially take place until later, but now is the time for agreements to be made. The Vesuviani have also been linked with Lanus striker Eduardo Silva, who is very open to a Napoli move. But his price tag may be a little high, and since he is already a well known prospect there is lots of competition for his services. Napoli has also been tracking Frosinone’s Slovenian striker Zlatko Dedic, and 20 year old Polish striker Robert Lewandowski of Lech Poznan. Lewandowski could be the sriker arriving in January to replace Zalayeta.

It seems that Napoli is about to hit the big time. England manager Fabio Capello has also praised the work of the club and manager Edy Reja. Capello is quick to admit that he is friends with Reja, but his stature and record speaks for itself. He’s not trying to do his friend a favour – he could have done that when Reja’s head was on the chopping block last year – instead he’s commenting as a neutral observer of the Italian game.

Ever since the club demolished Lecce in the anticipo, there has been a lot of media attention on the team. I have not been able to keep up – in the case of Subotic, transfers are happening right in the middle of a blog. When I started this blog I had no idea the club was even after the Bosnian defender. The first few weeks of December I’ve been preoccupied with a new job and with writing exams. Now that school is done until January hopefully I’ll be able to post more frequently. As a blogger the tension has been a little higher than normal as I’ve had to fit posts around a new schedule. For example, I worked last Saturday night and had to watch the Lecce game at a bar near my work. When I got there at about 2:00 in the afternoon local time, the bar was crammed with Englishmen drinking themselves merry and watching Man United – Spurs.

Now, I wonder if their wives use a bidet or not…

I’m English and my good lady’s genitals are delightful. That said, De La’s comments had me in hysterics when I first read them. Classic stuff.

Keeping Santacroce, Hamsik and Lavezzi is vital. Fantastic to see Napoli looking at more potential superstar youngsters. Brilliant way to tackle to transfer market.

Neil – the comments were HILARIOUS. I read them on my morning commute to work and I was in hysterics for a good 10 minutes. Seriously, that is something out of the Zamparini playbook. Loved it.

If they snapped up Subotic, that’s another steal. All the Bundesliga fans I know have said he has been one of the best defenders in Germany over the last year or so.

napoli really are on the way up i have never heard my mama so excited about calcio since the 80s! marino is one the main reasons hes unbelievable. quality blend of young italiano and foreign players and a president who has balls but also sense and a big enough wallet to make these moves in the market

But are his balls washed? LOL I hope Rusotto gets a run out this weekend with Lavezzi out. Could be his big chance if given. Any explanation on why Santacroce didn’t get the start against Lecce?

It’s been confirmed that Denis and Zalayeta will start Sunday, but Russotto could come off the bench.

I couldn’t find an explanation why Santacroce didn’t play against Lecce. DeLa himself said that Santacroce will play Sunday, so there must be some issue there for the President to publicly confirm a player’s selection.

Thats what I love about Italy. Here in the U.S. a talented hockey player says “sloppy seconds” and he is banned from his team and people are reacting as if he had just killed someone….seriously murderers have received less harsh treatment (see Ray Lewis).
I wonder what the reaction of the US media would have been if an NFL owner had said the same thing.
We Americans sure know how to get worked up about worthless shit.

The problem with Sean Avery is that outside of his comments he has behvioural issues (he’s a child) and apparently he isn’t a team oriented player. If someone on Napoli wasn’t playing for the team he would be either put in the reserves (Dalla Bona) or transfered out (Calaio). The issue with Avery is his discpline, not just his public comments about an ex.

Hamsik is back in Slovakia for Christmas, and because of his muscle problem he would have likely been on the bench anyways. Still, you’ve got to hope this incident doesn’t cause him to think about leaving Napoli.
