Chievo Verona vs. NapoliBy: Neil | August 31st, 2013
For some reason Chievo away has been a difficult fixture for Napoli over recent seasons. Part of it was Mazzarri’s tactics of course, but the other element is that Chievo has nothing to lose playing the bigger sides and they have mastered the art of playing pressure free and turning their few chances into goals. According to reports Napoli will field the same starting lineup as last week. Reina – Maggio, Albiol, Britos, Zuniga – Behrami, Inler – Callejon, Pandev, Hamsik – Higuain. What kind of match am I expecting? Find out after the jump.
I don’t think this will be a comfortable game like last week where Napoli was ahead two goals at the half, and cruised in the second half. Chievo manager and Napoli native Giuseppe Sannino no doubt follows his hometown team closely and he always had a plan for the Partenopei when managing Siena. Of course, it was easier when facing the predictable tactics of Mazzarri. With a more flexible system Napoli can attack through many different routes, and I can’t see them being held of the scoresheet like last year. It may be close but Napoli’s superior talent should prevail.
Prediction: Chievo 1 Napoli 2
