All and all a quiet week, eh?
By: Joe |With so much going around concerning the club it’s difficult to determine where to start and what news to include. It has been an eventful and emotional week for the squadra partenopei. Here’s a recap:
* For the second time this season, Napoli lost to Cagliari. A Cagliari side that hadn’t scored two goals in a [...]
Napoli-Cagliari or trust me we need the points more than you
By: Joe |In one corner: Six consecutive defeats. Fewest home points in Serie A. Outscored 14-2 in
their last six matches and winless in four months. Owner of the fewest goals scored and most goals allowed in Serie A. Cagliari are a long, long way from being good. Or respectable. The Rossoblu would have to nearly double their [...]
Help on the way?
By: Joe |It appears Pier Paolo Marino is thisclose to signing left-winger Francesco Modesto from Reggina. Marino has been burning up the phone lines in an attempt to strengthen our side for a second half push (or at least to avoid a second half collapse which I fear is well within possibility). Marino has been in Milan [...]
Trouble afoot in Napoli
By: Joe |Tensions are high and nerves are frayed at Napoli. Coach Edy Reja almost quit as he’s been on the receiving end of successive toungue lashings from President Aurelio De Laurentis. The latest one, however, was a bit more directed and it took place in the locker room in front of Reja’s players.
A friendly reminder of who’s really in charge

In an interview with Napoli Magazine, De Laurentis went off on his players, his DG Pier Paolo Marino (a General Manager of sorts for those familiar with American sports) and, most of all, on the head of coach Edy [...]
Somewhere here there’s a lesson
By: Joe |For the second consecutive year, Napoli has bowed out of the Coppa Italia at the Round of 16 phase. In both cases they’ve lost to a subpar side who has struggled and will most likely become cannon fodder for their next opponent.
Napoli-Milan or ‘let’s not embarrass ourselves boys’
By: Joe |Napoli travel to the San Siro for the second time this season to take on the stuffed, self-absorbed and, quite possibly, the best ‘cup competition’ team this side of…. well, Milan
don’t play second fiddle to anyone.
All the talk has centered around 18-year old phenom Alexandre Pato making his long awaited Serie A debut. I [...]
1st half review: Gli difensori
By: Joe |While Napoli coach Edy Reja’s preferred formation is 3-5-2, the reality on the pitch is that it’s more like a 5-3-2 with the wingers acting more as fullbacks than wide midfielders. In any case, we’ll focus for now on the true defenders in Reja’s setup.
